Experience
Leonie Harris is a specialist child care solicitor, and member of the Law Society Children Panel,
dealing almost exclusively with cases involving children in care proceedings. Leonie represents
children, parents and other family members or connected persons in cases involving Local Authority
intervention. Leonie’s experience includes cases involving alleged non accidental injury and complex
medical issues, domestic violence, international jurisdiction issues, deprivation of liberty and sexual
abuse.
Leonie was instructed in relation to the reported case of Salford CC v M (Deprivation of Liberty in
Scotland) [2019] which concerned a child who was deprived of her liberty in Scotland. The court had
to consider how this placement could be lawfully approved.
