At WTB Solicitors we know that domestic violence can affect anyone. We also know that no matter who you are, it can be hard to talk about domestic abuse.

We understand that each domestic abuse situation is as unique as the individuals involved. Domestic violence affects all areas of society regardless of background, wealth, culture, sexual orientation and gender identity.

Broken Rainbow, the UK’s only LGBT domestic violence charity, state that in 2014 76,336 cases went through Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences but only 0.9% of cases were identified as LGBT however 8 times as many people identifying as LGBT, and assessed as being medium to high risk, called Broken Rainbow’s helpline during the same period. Broken Rainbow have estimated that 1 in 4 LGBT and 4 in 5 Trans relationships involve domestic abuse. It is clear that many people experiencing domestic violence and abuse are suffering in silence and need to feel confident that if they seek help they will be treated with dignity and respect.

We want to make sure you know that at WTB Solicitors LLP, you will always be treated with respect. Our expert solicitors have been trained by Broken Rainbow to ensure that our service is inclusive and we are aware of the additional issues that those experiencing domestic abuse in the LGBT community may face. We understand that people don’t come forward due to; a fear of being outed, concerns that service providers may not understand the issues they are facing, a fear of real or perceived phobic behaviour, or a fear of stereotyping.

We believe that everybody deserves access to justice and we know diversity only makes our community stronger.
