Full time vacancy for an Immigration Law Intern
We have a full time vacancy for an intern in our Immigration Law Department.
Our work covers the full range of Immigration and Nationality Law, dealing with every aspect of migration law for both individuals and businesses.
We handle applications and appeals relating to Business Immigration and we represent individuals who wish to live, work or study in the UK. Additionally we hold a Legal Aid contract and represent refugees seeking asylum in the UK. Human rights considerations also feature in a lot of our work.
The role would involve developing an understanding of refugee, immigration and human rights law and procedures in order to assist with preparing our clients’ applications and appeals. There will be an element of administrative office work but with appropriate training we anticipate that the successful candidate will take an increasing role in casework such as researching background country information for use in asylum applications and appeals.
While the role is based in a law firm a qualification in law is not essential. The nature of our work means that an interest in world affairs and a broad outlook are more important than previous legal experience. Academic achievement is important to us as is intellectual aptitude demonstrated by other success during work or education. We are also interested in applicants who have other life or work experiences from which they have gained skills or insights relevant to our work as solicitors in an Immigration Law context. Salary according to experience.
Applicants should submit their CV and letter of application (no more than 300 words) to Claire Kaye Claire.firstname.lastname@example.org with “Immigration intern” as the subject. Applications will close on the 15th June 2016
